Hurrbee is a privacy-first search engine that pays users for their attention. We collect the minimum data required to run our service, and we never sell your personal information. This document explains what we do collect, why, and the rights you have over your data.
When you create an account, we collect: username, first and last name, email address, and (optionally at signup) phone number and mailing address. A mailing address is required before subscribing to a paid tier because our payment processor requires billing address verification.
We also generate an account number for referral tracking. We do not require government ID, date of birth, or any other government-linked identifier.
Every search you run is logged so we can enforce subscription quotas, credit you for the reward, and let you review your history. The search log includes: your query text, the timestamp, and a randomly generated identifier for your browser session. We do not derive or store your location from your IP address, and the search log contains no IP address at all. If you have given us a postal address for billing, ads may be matched against the town or postcode you typed — never against where the request came from.
You can disable search history logging at any time from your account settings (Wooden tier and up). You can also delete past history entries individually or in bulk.
We do not use your search history to target ads, and we do not share it with third parties.
When you click through to a site from a Hurrbee results page, we record the address, the page title, the site's domain, and the time. This is a record of where you went, which is more revealing than a record of what you asked — we want to be plain about that rather than bury it.
It is on by default and you can turn it off from your search history page. Unlike the search-history opt-out, this one is free on every plan, including no plan at all. Turning it off stops new entries immediately; it does not delete what is already there, which you can remove individually or all at once.
You can also set these entries to delete themselves automatically after 30, 90, 180, or 365 days. New accounts start at 90 days — you can lengthen it, shorten it, or turn expiry off entirely. Accounts created before 17 August 2026 keep their original setting unless changed. Entries recorded before you signed in, or without an account, are removed after 90 days regardless.
We do not sell this data, share it with advertisers, or use it to target ads.
Several features here work by remembering things about you. Your saved sites, your search terms, and the sites you open all make Hurrbee more useful and all require us to store something. There is no version of this where you get the convenience without the record.
So we have tried to make the trade explicit rather than automatic: every one of these can be switched off, the switches are free, the data is yours to delete, and nothing here is shared or sold. Where a setting costs you something — for example, earning less from ads because we are recording less — we say so on the setting itself rather than letting you discover it later.
If you would rather Hurrbee remembered nothing about you, turn all of it off. Search still works.
On your Rewards Settings page you can voluntarily provide demographic details (age bracket, sex, household income bracket, housing status, and freeform interests). This is strictly optional — you can use Hurrbee's full search and rewards features without providing any of it.
If you choose to share this data, we use it only to match more relevant ads to your searches. Explicit consent is required to store any of this data; consent is timestamped and logged separately with your IP address, user agent, and the policy version at the time of consent.
You can also opt out of specific ad categories (e.g. Financial Services, Health & Wellness) from the same page. Opt-outs are stored as simple preferences and do not require consent.
Ads on Hurrbee are matched to your query keywords, not to your browsing history or long-term behavior. If you've filled out a Shopper Profile, ads may additionally be filtered to match your demographics — but only within the categories you haven't opted out of.
We share no personally identifying information with advertisers. Advertisers see aggregated impression and click counts for their own ads only.
If you subscribe to the Fun tier or higher, you receive a @hurrbee.com mailbox.
Mail sent to and from that address is stored on our mail server for as long as your account exists.
We do not read, scan, or analyze the content of your emails for advertising, machine learning, or any other purpose.
Account records and search history are retained for as long as your account is active, except where you have set a shorter window for the sites you open (see above). When you delete your account, all personally identifying data is deleted within 30 days. Financial records (subscription payments, referral payouts) are retained for 7 years to meet US tax reporting requirements.
Consent records are never deleted, even after consent revocation. They are stored as an audit trail with the timestamp of grant and revocation. This is required for CCPA / GDPR compliance.
You must be 18 or older to create a Hurrbee account. We do not knowingly collect data from users under 18. If we discover an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it promptly.
All traffic to hurrbee.com uses HTTPS (TLS 1.2+). Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. API secrets and third-party credentials are stored in server environment variables, not in our codebase. We do not store credit card numbers.
Account access by Hurrbee staff. A member of Hurrbee staff holding a specific, separately granted permission may view your account where we have reason to suspect fraud, abuse of the rewards system, or unlawful use.
If we make material changes to how we collect or use data, we will notify you by email and require re-consent for the affected features. The policy version at the top of this page reflects the current effective version.
