Terms of Service

Version 2026-10-05. These terms are the agreement between you and Hurrbee Inc. for the use of Hurrbee.

The short version

This short version is here to help you. It is not the agreement. The full terms below are what you agree to.

1. The agreement

THESE TERMS OF SERVICE (THE "TERMS") ARE A CONTRACT BETWEEN YOU AND HURRBEE INC. ("HURRBEE"). READ THEM CAREFULLY. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS OR BY ANY OTHER HURRBEE POLICY, DO NOT CREATE AN ACCOUNT AND DO NOT USE HURRBEE'S SERVICES. THESE TERMS CONTAIN A BINDING ARBITRATION PROVISION WHICH AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS AND MAY BE ENFORCED BY THE PARTIES.

Acceptance. You accept these Terms when you tick the box at sign-up, and each time you use Hurrbee's website, search engine, account features or any other product or service Hurrbee offers (together, the "Services"). In consideration of your use of the Services, you agree to these Terms, including the policies incorporated into them, as amended from time to time.

Other policies. The Privacy Policy and the Content Policy, each published on hurrbee.com, are part of these Terms. Where a page of the site states a rule for a particular feature, such as the price of a plan or the limit on a reward, that rule is part of these Terms for that feature.

Who may use Hurrbee. Anyone may search on Hurrbee without an account. To create an account you must be at least 13 years old. To subscribe to a paid plan, place an ad, or turn on ads matched to your search history, you must be at least 18, and by doing any of those you confirm that you are. You may hold one account, for yourself, and the information you give must be true and kept up to date.

Changes to these Terms. Hurrbee reserves the right, in its sole discretion or if required by law, to alter, amend, modify, delete from and add to these Terms and any other policy by posting the revision on hurrbee.com with a new version date. For a material change Hurrbee will also send notice to the email address on your account. Your continued use of the Services after the posted change constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to a change, stop using the Services and close your account.

2. What Hurrbee provides

Generally. Hurrbee provides a search engine and a set of services built around it, to which you may subscribe or which you may use without paying: (1) web search, with results ranked in several ways; (2) answers written by Hurrman, and Bee Goggles, which reads pages you point it at; (3) monthly plans that raise the number of searches and features available to you; (4) honey, a reward used inside Hurrbee; (5) Scouts, a game in which members squat on domains; (6) advertising for businesses; (7) a Hurrbee email address and, on some plans, a mailbox; and (8) tools for people who run websites. Hurrbee may add to, change or withdraw any of the Services, plans or prices by posting the change on hurrbee.com.

Search results and other websites. Search results come from Hurrbee's own index and from third parties. Results link to websites Hurrbee does not own or control. Hurrbee is not responsible for the content, accuracy, safety or practices of any website it links to. How results are ranked, filtered, lowered or removed is decided by Hurrbee in its sole discretion and under the Content Policy.

Hurrman and Bee Goggles. Hurrman's answers and write-ups are produced by an artificial intelligence model from pages that HurrbeeBot fetched, and each cites its sources. Despite that, an answer may contain one or more errors, may be incomplete, or may reflect an error in the page it was drawn from. You are responsible for checking the cited sources before relying on any answer. If you notify Hurrbee of a possible error, Hurrbee will review it.

No professional advice. YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT HURRBEE IS NOT ENGAGED IN RENDERING LEGAL, ACCOUNTING, FINANCIAL, MEDICAL OR OTHER PROFESSIONAL ADVICE THROUGH ANY OF ITS SERVICES, INCLUDING SEARCH RESULTS AND HURRMAN'S ANSWERS. IF SPECIFIC LEGAL, ACCOUNTING, FINANCIAL, MEDICAL OR OTHER EXPERT ASSISTANCE IS REQUIRED, THE SERVICES OF A COMPETENT PROFESSIONAL SHOULD BE SOUGHT. HURRBEE MAKES NO REPRESENTATION THAT THE SERVICES WILL ACHIEVE ANY RESULT.

Hurrbee email. A Hurrbee email address is reserved for each member, and a mailbox is provided on the plans that include one. You may not use it to send bulk email, spam, unsolicited commercial email or mail bombings, to collect responses from unsolicited bulk email, or in violation of any law, including the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003, as amended. Hurrbee does not read or analyze the content of your email for advertising.

3. Your account and acceptable use

Usernames and passwords. A username and password are only secure if you protect them. You agree that it is your responsibility to keep your username and password confidential. Hurrbee is not liable for any loss of confidentiality, or any damage, arising from your failure to do so. You are responsible for everything done through your account, with or without your permission.

Keeping your information current. You agree to promptly update the information on your account when it changes, including your name, address, contact details, email address and the card used for recurring charges.

Uses that are not permitted. Hurrbee reserves the right to refuse or discontinue any Service to anyone whose use, in Hurrbee's sole discretion, does not comply with these Terms, Hurrbee's policies, or governing law. The following is a non-exhaustive list of conduct that violates these Terms:

  1. Violating any applicable law, rule, regulation or order, whether local, state, federal or international;
  2. Violating any Hurrbee agreement, policy, rule or guideline, including the Content Policy;
  3. Posting, storing, distributing or transmitting content that is illegal, libelous, defamatory, obscene, abusive, that incites violence, or that is otherwise offensive or actionable, including in a squat message, an ad or a site submission;
  4. Engaging in fraudulent, defamatory, obscene or deceptive conduct, including impersonating any person or claiming an affiliation you do not have;
  5. Inflicting or attempting to inflict harm upon a minor, or obtaining, storing, distributing or transmitting child sexual abuse material or other unlawful material;
  6. Conducting, taking part in or facilitating a pyramid or other illegal soliciting scheme;
  7. Invading the privacy of another person, harassing another person, or otherwise violating the rights of another;
  8. Accessing or attempting to access the accounts or computer systems of others without the right to do so, or attempting to infiltrate the security or network of Hurrbee;
  9. Collecting or storing the personal information of other members or of visitors to Hurrbee;
  10. Sending searches or other requests by automated means, scraping results or pages, or copying Hurrbee's index, rankings or answers in bulk, without Hurrbee's written permission;
  11. Earning or trying to earn honey or any other reward by deception, including holding more than one account, referring yourself, simulating activity, or clicking ads without real interest in them;
  12. Interfering with Hurrbee's rankings, ratings, word lists or review tools, or with HurrbeeBot;
  13. Transmitting uninvited solicitations, spam or similar communications, or introducing viruses, Trojan horses or other harmful code;
  14. Engaging in conduct that is harmful to Hurrbee's network, the internet or other internet users, or that inhibits another person's use or enjoyment of the Services;
  15. Violating Hurrbee's or a third party's proprietary or intellectual property rights, including licenses, patents, copyrights, service marks, trade secrets and trademarks; and
  16. Attempting to do any of the above.

What Hurrbee may do. Where Hurrbee believes these Terms have been violated it may remove content, clear a message, reverse honey or rewards, pause or remove an ad, suspend or close an account, and take any other step the law allows. Serious or repeated violations may mean losing your account permanently.

Gaming the system. Any attempt to game Hurrbee will result in the cancellation of your account. That includes any attempt to gain honey, rewards, referral payments, rankings or standing by deception, automation, multiple accounts, self-dealing, collusion, or any other means these Terms do not allow, whether or not the attempt succeeds. When an account is canceled for this reason, all honey, rewards, squats and standing on it are forfeited, and all fees paid to Hurrbee, including plan fees, ad fees and squat fees, are forfeited and will not be refunded. Hurrbee decides, in its sole discretion, whether conduct is an attempt to game the system.

4. Plans, billing and payments

Free use and plans. Hurrbee can be used without paying, within the limits shown on the site. A paid plan raises those limits for one month at a time. What each plan includes, and its price with tax, are shown on your account page at the time you subscribe.

Recurring card charges. By subscribing to a plan you authorize Hurrbee to charge the card you provide each month, in the amount shown when you subscribed, until you cancel. Payments are processed by Authorize.Net. Hurrbee does not store your card number.

The first charge. Your plan begins as soon as you subscribe. The first charge is taken by the payment processor in its next daily run, usually within one day, and your receipt is emailed when that charge has been taken. If the first charge cannot be taken, Hurrbee may end the plan.

Renewals. Your plan renews automatically each month on the same terms, and your card is charged for each renewal, unless you cancel before the renewal date.

Changing plans. You may change to another plan at any time from your account page. The new plan begins at once and is charged as a new subscription, and the previous subscription is canceled. No credit is given for the unused part of the previous plan.

Canceling. You may cancel at any time from your account page. Canceling stops all future charges, and the plan ends when you cancel.

Extra searches. Where the site offers extra searches for honey, the price is shown before you buy. Unused extra searches do not carry over when your plan renews.

Refunds. All plan fees are billed in advance and are not refundable, in whole or in part. If you believe you were charged in error, tell Hurrbee within 60 days of the charge.

Taxes. Prices are shown with any sales tax Hurrbee is required to collect, based on the address on your account.

Failed payments. It is your responsibility to keep a valid card on file. If a renewal charge cannot be collected, Hurrbee may suspend or end the plan.

Changes to prices and billing terms. Prices and these billing terms may be revised at any time by posting the revision on hurrbee.com. The price and terms in effect when a billing month begins apply throughout that month. A revision applies from your next renewal.

5. Honey, referrals and the attention market

What honey is. Honey is a reward that exists only inside Hurrbee. It is not money, not a currency, not a security and not your property. It has no cash value. It cannot be exchanged for cash, withdrawn, sold, or transferred to another person, except through a feature of the site that Hurrbee itself provides. Any dollar figure shown beside honey is a measure for use inside Hurrbee only.

Earning honey. Honey is earned for the activities shown on the site, at the rates and within the limits shown there. Hurrbee may change those activities, rates and limits at any time by changing the site. Hurrbee may withhold or take back honey that was credited in error, or that was earned by fraud, automation, multiple accounts or any other violation of these Terms.

Using honey. Honey can be used only for the things the site offers for it, such as extra searches, squats, winter fees and advertising. Some honey can be used only for some of those things; your Rewards page shows what your honey can be used for. Honey used is gone and is not returned, except where these Terms or the site say otherwise.

When honey ends. Honey does not expire unless the site says so where that honey is shown. All honey on an account is forfeited when the account is closed, by you or by Hurrbee.

Referrals. Hurrbee may reward you for referring new members and advertisers, under the rules shown on the Refer a Friend page. You may not refer yourself, create accounts to refer, or promote your referral link by spam or deception. Hurrbee may change or end the referral program at any time.

The attention market: your choice. On your Search history page you may choose to let advertisers reach you with ads matched to keywords from your own search history. This is off unless you turn it on, and you may turn it off again at any time. If you turn it on:

Turning off the recording of your search history also turns this choice off.

Taxes on rewards. You are responsible for any tax that may be due on rewards you receive. Hurrbee may ask for tax information, and may report rewards, where the law requires it.

6. Scouts: squats and the conservation fund

A game, and only a game. Scouts is a game. Squatting on a domain records, inside Hurrbee, that you picked that domain. A SQUAT GIVES YOU NO OWNERSHIP OF, AND NO LEGAL CLAIM, RIGHT, LICENSE OR INTEREST IN, ANY DOMAIN NAME, WEBSITE, TRADEMARK OR BUSINESS, AND IT CREATES NO RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN YOU AND THE OWNER OF THAT DOMAIN. Hurrbee claims nothing over these domains either.

What you get. What you get from a squat is the record and your standing as a scout. Honey spent on a squat is gone. A squat cannot be sold or transferred.

Prices and rules. The price of a squat, and the rules for winter, winterizing, rebuilding, displacement and refunds of squat credit, are those shown on the Squats and Scouts pages at the time. Hurrbee sets them and may change them. A hive can be lost in winter under those rules.

Messages. A squat may carry a short message, shown publicly alongside the domain, with your name or without it. You may not use a message to impersonate anyone, to claim an affiliation you do not have, or to post anything offensive or unlawful. Hurrbee may clear a message at any time.

Owners of websites. A website's owner may verify their own site with Hurrbee through the Submit page. That verification is separate from the game, and a squat gives a member no standing against the owner.

The conservation fund. Part of every squat fee, winter fee and displacement fee is set aside by Hurrbee for a conservation fund, and paid out to pollinator work around March of each year. The fund is paid by Hurrbee from its own revenue. It is not a donation made by you, and it gives you no tax deduction. Your name appears on the contributors list only if you choose to add it.

7. Advertising

This section applies to you if you place an ad on Hurrbee.

Your ad. An ad is sold at a flat monthly price set by the geography tier you choose, shown before you buy. You supply its keywords, image and destination. You are solely responsible for your ad and for the page it leads to, and you warrant that both are truthful, lawful and yours to use. Hurrbee may refuse, pause or remove any ad in its sole discretion, including an ad that conflicts with the Content Policy or uses a blocked keyword.

Billing. Each ad is billed as its own monthly subscription through Authorize.Net, and you authorize Hurrbee to charge the card you provide each month until you stop it. An ad begins running when its billing is set up. The first charge is taken in the processor's next daily run, usually within one day. The monthly rate you signed up at stays the rate for that ad for as long as its subscription continues.

Stopping an ad. "Stop auto-renewal" ends future charges, and the ad keeps running until the end of the month already paid for. Deleting an ad stops its billing and removes the ad. Ad fees are billed in advance and are not refundable, in whole or in part.

No guarantee of results. Hurrbee does not guarantee any number of impressions or clicks, any position, or any result from an ad. Hurrbee reports the count of impressions and clicks for your own ads only. Hurrbee shares no information that identifies any member with advertisers.

Doubling down. Where Hurrbee tells you that an ad has available honey, you may choose to pay an additional monthly amount, shown before you agree, so that the ad is also shown to members who have chosen to receive ads matched to keywords from their search history. Hurrbee does the matching and decides when the ad is shown. You receive no information about those members, including how many there are. Keywords on sensitive subjects are not matched. Part of the additional amount is paid to those members as honey.

Paying with honey. Where the site offers advertising for honey, the price in honey is shown before you buy, and section 5 applies to that honey.

Your responsibility for your ad. You agree to defend, indemnify and hold Hurrbee harmless from any claim arising from your ad or the page it leads to, as set out in section 9.

8. Content, intellectual property and privacy

Hurrbee's property. The Services, including the site, its software, its index, its rankings, Hurrman's answers as a service, and the names and marks Hurrbee, Hurrman, HurrbeeBot and Bee Goggles, are protected by federal and state law. All title and interest in them belongs solely to Hurrbee. These Terms grant you no right to them other than the license below.

Your license. So that you can use the Services, Hurrbee grants you a limited, nontransferable, nonassignable and non-exclusive license to use them for yourself, under these Terms. You agree not to engage in activities that infringe Hurrbee's intellectual property rights, including reverse engineering, decompiling, remarketing, reselling, sublicensing, or copying the Services or their content in bulk. This license ends when these Terms end for you.

Reverse engineering. All rights in Hurrbee's code, software, index, rankings and methods are reserved. Reverse engineering, decompiling, disassembling or copying any part of them, or attempting to, is prohibited. Hurrbee considers it hacking and an infringement of its copyright. If you do it, your account will be canceled, its records will be saved as evidence, and your case will be submitted to Hurrbee's legal counsel.

Competitors and investors. If you use or review Hurrbee as a competitor or an investor, or on behalf of one, you agree to this short non-disclosure agreement. Everything you learn about how Hurrbee works that Hurrbee does not publish, including its methods of ranking, its honey economy, its crawler, its pricing, its plans and anything Hurrbee shares with you directly, is Hurrbee's confidential information. You will not disclose it to anyone outside your own organization, and you will not use it for any purpose other than evaluating Hurrbee; in particular you will not use it to design, build or improve a competing product or service. These duties last for three years after your last use of Hurrbee. They do not cover information that is public through no fault of yours, or that you can show you already knew.

Your content. You are solely responsible for everything you post or submit through the Services, including squat messages, ratings, feedback, site submissions and ads. Hurrbee does not claim ownership of it. You grant Hurrbee a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display and use that content as needed to operate and improve the Services, and you confirm that you have the right to grant it.

Answers and write-ups. You may use an answer or write-up that Hurrman produces for you. The pages it draws on belong to their owners, and it is your responsibility to respect their rights when you reuse what they say.

Website owners and HurrbeeBot. HurrbeeBot reads public web pages to build Hurrbee's index, and follows the rules a site sets in its robots.txt file. The HurrbeeBot page on hurrbee.com describes how it behaves and how a site owner can limit it.

Copyright complaints. If you believe that anything on Hurrbee infringes your copyright, you may send a notice to Hurrbee's designated copyright agent, following the procedure in 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), at privacy@hurrbee.com.

Privacy. You agree that you have read the Privacy Policy and will review it from time to time. You agree that Hurrbee may use and disclose your information as the Privacy Policy describes, as amended.

9. Warranties, liability and indemnification

Disclaimer of warranties. YOU EXPRESSLY ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT THE SERVICES PROVIDED BY HURRBEE OR ITS AFFILIATES ARE PROVIDED TO YOU ON AN "AS-IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND AND WITH ALL FAULTS.

HURRBEE AND ITS AFFILIATES DISCLAIM ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS FOR THE SERVICES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, WORKMANSHIP, WORKMANLIKE EFFORT, COURSE OF DEALING OR TRADE, LACK OF NEGLIGENCE, ACCURACY, NON-INTERFERENCE, TITLE, COMPATIBILITY OF SOFTWARE OR COMPUTER SYSTEMS, AND ANY WARRANTY ARISING UNDER STATUTE.

STATEMENTS, INFORMATION OR ADVICE PROVIDED TO YOU BY A HURRBEE REPRESENTATIVE SHALL NOT CREATE A WARRANTY.

YOU ASSUME THE RISK ARISING OUT OF THE USE, QUALITY, ACCURACY, EFFORT OR PERFORMANCE OF THE SERVICES. HURRBEE DOES NOT WARRANT THE SECURITY OF THE SERVICES OR OF ANY INFORMATION, LINK, CONTENT, FEATURE OR SOFTWARE IN THEM, AND DOES NOT WARRANT THAT SEARCH RESULTS, RANKINGS, ANSWERS, LINKS, CONTENT OR FEATURES WILL BE FREE OF ERROR OR INTERRUPTION, OR AVAILABLE AT ALL TIMES.

Limitation of liability. HURRBEE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE TO ANY PARTY FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INDIRECT, SPECIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF BUSINESS PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION AND LOSS OF INFORMATION), OR FOR ANY OTHER LOSS OR DAMAGE ALLEGED TO ARISE IN ANY WAY FROM OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OF, RELIANCE ON, PERFORMANCE OF OR AVAILABILITY OF THE SERVICES.

HURRBEE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR YOUR USE OF OR RELIANCE ON INFORMATION OR CONTENT AVAILABLE THROUGH THE SERVICES, INCLUDING SEARCH RESULTS, WEBSITES LINKED FROM THEM, AND ANSWERS WRITTEN BY HURRMAN, OR FOR VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL CODE OBTAINED FROM A WEBSITE REACHED THROUGH THE SERVICES.

HURRBEE DOES NOT WARRANT, AND SHALL HAVE NO LIABILITY FOR, THE ACCURACY, USEFULNESS OR VALUE OF ANY CONTENT, DATA, DOCUMENT, GRAPHIC OR IMAGE.

HURRBEE SHALL HAVE NO LIABILITY FOR ANY DECISION MADE OR AGREEMENT ENTERED INTO IN RELIANCE ON INFORMATION OBTAINED THROUGH THE SERVICES.

NOTWITHSTANDING THE FOREGOING, IN THE EVENT HURRBEE SHALL BE FOUND LIABLE TO YOU ON ANY LEGAL THEORY, HURRBEE'S LIABILITY SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE FEES YOU PAID TO HURRBEE DURING THE PRIOR YEAR. THE PARTIES AGREE THAT DAMAGES IN SUCH AN EVENT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO QUANTIFY, THAT THIS AMOUNT IS REASONABLE, THAT IT IS COMPENSATION AND NOT A PENALTY, AND THAT IT IS YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY. This limitation is a fundamental element of the agreement between you and Hurrbee; without it Hurrbee would be unable to provide the Services.

Indemnification. You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Hurrbee and its affiliates, agents, parents, subsidiaries, members, employees, officers and directors from and against all liabilities, claims, demands, damages, costs and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees and costs, related to or arising from:

  1. your direct or indirect use of the Services, including use of your account by another person with or without your permission;
  2. any content you post, submit or advertise through the Services; and
  3. any breach of these Terms or of any other agreement between you and Hurrbee.

10. Disputes, governing law and general terms

Ending your account. You may close your account at any time. A breach of these Terms, or of any other Hurrbee policy, gives Hurrbee the right to suspend or close your account and to recover any and all damages, including reasonable attorneys' fees; this does not limit any other remedy available to Hurrbee. When an account is closed, its plan ends, its ads stop, and its honey, squats and standing are forfeited.

Alternative dispute resolution. Should a dispute arise out of these Terms or acts or omissions related to them, and if the dispute cannot be settled through negotiations held in good faith for at least fourteen (14) days, the parties agree to attempt, in good faith, to settle it through mediation held no later than thirty (30) days after the negotiations end. Mediation is a condition precedent to arbitration, litigation or any other dispute resolution procedure. The mediation shall be held in Dallas County, Texas, before a professional mediator, and its fees shall be borne equally by the parties.

Arbitration. If a dispute is not resolved by mediation, or if the parties otherwise agree, the dispute shall be referred to JAMS in Dallas County, Texas, to be decided by a single arbitrator in accordance with the Texas General Arbitration Act. If the amount in dispute is less than $10,000.00, the arbitration must offer resolution online, by telephone or by mail. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and legally binding, and judgment may be entered on it. Each party shall bear its share of the arbitration fees under the applicable rules. A party that fails to proceed with arbitration, unsuccessfully challenges the award, or fails to comply with it shall pay the other party's costs, including a reasonable attorney's fee, of compelling arbitration or of defending or enforcing the award.

Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, which shall prevail if inconsistent with any term here. The parties designate Dallas County as the proper jurisdiction and venue: the Dallas County District and County Courts at Law, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. This designation applies without regard to conflict of laws principles.

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held illegal, invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions are not affected and remain valid and enforceable.

No waiver. Hurrbee's failure to require strict performance of any term shall not constitute a waiver of its right to do so.

Assignment. Hurrbee may freely assign these Terms and its other policies. You may not transfer or assign any right, duty or obligation under them.

Entire agreement. These Terms, with the policies incorporated by reference and as amended, constitute the entire agreement between you and Hurrbee.

Contact. Questions about these Terms may be sent to privacy@hurrbee.com.
